Sabırtaşı

Even if you haven’t heard of the name of this food cart, I’m sure you have seen it in Taksim. Although I have eaten there before, this time I got a chance to listen to the story of the little food cart. The story starts by explaining how the owner Mustafa’s father opened this food cart. He is from Kahramanmaras and he was a business man who went bankrupt and came to Istanbul. It was the mothers idea to sell iclikofte. The mother would cook it and the husband would go door by door and sell all his iclikofte to his customers. They started being famous for their delicious iclikofte, so in 1988 they bought this small food cart and started selling. Now they also have a restaurant called Sabırtaşı right in front of the food cart. Just this year they lost their beloved father. The family’s son Mustafa doesn’t work in the restaurant, instead he stands outside in the cold weather, and sells hic iclikofte to his customers in honor of his father. The food and especially the iclikofte are delicious.

Fıccın

The restaurant Fıccın is a Circassian cuisine restaurant. When my friend Ozan first told me it was a Circassian restaurant I was afraid to go there since I hadn’t tried this cuisine before. This restaurant was my favorite out of all the 5 places we have been to today.   This was the first time I tried Circassian food. On the way to this restaurant I was so hungry, the second we got there I lost my mind on the menu, there was so much to choose from. We ordered; patatesli cerkez mantisi, kiymali cerkez mantisi, saray koftesi, zeytinyagli dolma, ficcin, fava and cerkez tavugu. I loved everything besides the fava and zeytnyagli dolma. Those two were not very bad but it wasn’t something I will eat there again. After eating everything else I thought those two were a little weak on taste. After we ate, we talked to the restaurant owner and she told us that all the recipes were written by her and the chefs were trained by her. The owner refers to her restaurant as her home. The restaurant had a small atmosphere and was decorated like a house. The menu is different for lunch and dinner. When the bill came we were all shocked to see that everything was so cheap, we will definitely be going there again.

J’adore

Chocolate is a big part of our lives and j’adore is the one who makes different and more delicious. They have great handmade, mouth-watering chocolates and when you go to the place the first thing you see is the mouth-watering chocolates. They have great chocolates although the owner of the place is a rude man. Also employees are the same too. They don’t know what they are serving.  Furthermore the prices are so high. If you have a money and you love eating chocolate, you can go this place. J

Asmalımescid Gemi Bar & Restaurant

The first thing i have to say about this place is, it’s a soothing place. It is a three-storey Bar, the first floor is for people who like dancing, also it’s great for birthday parties, karaoke, and bachelor parties. The Second floor is good for people who like dim light. But i think the roof top is better because everywhere is white and it’s restful. Also the roof is decorated according to the name of the place. They used a ship theme. You can find almost whatever you want on the menu. Bartenders can make all coctails, and they are very good at doing margaritas which is my favouriteJ. Also they have great dishes.Although I have been there before and tried many tasteful things on the menu and I thought the Gemi et durum, was the best dish there. Gemi’s prices are cheaper than the other places in Asmalimescid, besides there is a 10% discount for university students!  Overall the service was very good and i was very happy about the discount that the provide for students, It’s a very fun place to go on weekends and be with your friends because they also have live music on Friday and Saturday.

Mandabatmaz

A little cup of turkish coffee means a lot for turkish people. Turkish coffee is our traditional beverage. Mandabatmaz is been open since 1967 and the place has frequenters. This place is a family company and the only living member is Mehmet usta. Mehmet usta is really good at his job, and I love the coffee in there. But the coffee was enormously strong, so it is good for who likes bitter and strong flavours. For example my friend Zeynep could not drink it and she didn’t like it. Mehmet usta describes his coffee as;  even if you put buffalo on the top of the coffee, the buffalo won’t sink. The place gets the mandabatmaz name from this quote. I will recommend this places for who likes strong flavours and of course turkish coffeeJ
